Rewilding Manual:
In 2020 I wrote a rewilding manual booklet. It describes what I have done and learnt at Underhill Wood Nature Reserve (UWNR) over the past 7 years. It draws on the steps I have taken to develop and enhance a range of habitats and what I have learnt through this work. I have read widely over the past 10 years and have consulted with expert ecologists - this knowledge underpins what I have done at UWNR and the contents of the manual. This not a nature book, rather it is a practical ‘how to’ manual for people who own 1 - 50 acres and want to increase biodiversity.
A selection of the topics covered; The Lake, Woodland, Rides and Paths, Weeds, Barn Owls and My Footprint.

What readers have said:
‘I just finished reading your book. It was excellent. I think i learned more from it than I have from anything else I have read this year. In particular i realise how much we have gone out of our way to not help owls here on the farm in the past few years and yet at the same time have’. From a farmer who owns and runs a 250 acre mixed farm in Kent.
‘…me purchasing the Rewilding Manual from Folde in Dorset for myself and then subsequently having to buy multiple more copies and forcibly gifting it to people. It’s that good’ From a keen naturalist.
"How To Rewild" by Jonathan Thomson is the most direct and inspiring guide to the craft of rewilding. Where other nature books meander, this one takes a clear and efficient path—without ever losing its sense of wonder. What sets Jonathan apart is his total commitment to detail. Far from a laissez-faire sweep of the hand, this book is the rewilder's ultimate field guide." From a new rewilder in East Dorset (200 acres).
